ASKANIA AWARD
2018
A highlight among the many outstanding events in Berlin was the presentation of the ASKANIA AWARD, which took place for the eleventh time in 2018. On February 13, shortly before the Berlinale, the friends of the ASKANIA watch manufactory, the only manufacturer of premium watches in the capital, met with numerous prominent representatives from the worlds of film, television, business and politics to select the 2018 award winners in the noble surroundings of the Kempinski Hotel Bristol Berlin.
ASKANIA AWARD Winner 2018
Best Actor:
Heiner Lauterbach
Born in Cologne in 1953, from an early age it was clear to him that he preferred acting to school: already at the age of 18 he took acting lessons with Marianne Jentgens. He had his debut on stage at the age of 19 and started directing later on. He also made a name for himself as a dubbing artist lending his voice to Hollywood stars such as Richard Gere, Kevin Costner, John Malkovic and many others. We are pleased to honor Heiner Lauterbach this year at the 2018 ASKANIA AWARD.
Best Actress:
Katharina Wackernagel
It is impossible to imagine the German film and television landscape without her performing roles for almost 20 years. She was awarded a Golden Lion for her best acting performance already in one of her first TV series roles – the leading role in the TV series TANJA (1997-2000). We are pleased to honor Katharina Wackernagel this year at the 2018 ASKANIA AWARD.
Shootingstar:
Tim Oliver Schultz
He came to acting through one of his mother’s acquaintances, who advised him to go to an audition. In 1999, at the age of eleven, he was discovered by a casting agent in Berlin. After his participation in the ZDF series EIN STARKES TEAM (2001), he soon took over larger and above all multifaceted television roles. His successfully produced films were presented and awarded prizes at international film festivals such as the Cannes Film Festival and the Berlinale. We are pleased to honor the young talent Tim Oliver Schultz this year at the ASKANIA AWARD 2017.
ASKANIA Lifetime Achievement:
Henry Hübchen
He graduated from the Ernst Busch academy of dramatic arts in East-Berlin. He was one of the most prominent actors of the GDR. He became known in particular for his successful cooperation with the theater director Frank Castorf at the Berlin Volksbuehne theater at Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz. Numerous cinema and television films demonstrate his versatility as an actor. We are pleased to honor Henry Hübchen this year at the 2018 ASKANIA AWARD.
ASKANIA Sport Award:
Robert Harting
He won the Olympic games as a discus thrower and also became the world and European Champion several times in this discipline. From 2012 to 2014, he was elected sportsman of the year in Germany three times in a row. We are particularly pleased to present Robert Harting with the ASKANIA Sport Award.
